Child Rights
I am a child, do I have Rights?
Every child around the world from birth to 18 has rights. Rights are what you should have or be able to do to survive, thrive and meet your full potential. All rights are equally important and are connected. You are born with these rights; no one can take them away.

What is the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, or UNCRC?
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (commonly abbreviated as the CRC or UNCRC) is a human rights treaty that sets out children's civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights. The Convention defines a child as any human being under eighteen unless the age of majority is attained earlier under national legislation.
The UN General Assembly adopted the Convention and opened it for signature on 20 November 1989 (the 30th anniversary of its Declaration of the Rights of the Child). It came into force on 2 September 1990, after the required number of nations ratified it. Currently, 196 countries are party to it, including every member of the United Nations except the United States.
